James S. Trieschmann
James S. Trieschmann is the Founder and Managing Attorney of Veteran Legal, LLC. As a private attorney, James has successfully represented hundreds of Veterans before the Veterans Benefits Administration Regional Offices, the Board of Veterans Appeals, and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Previously, James served eight years active duty in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps, followed by eight years in the Army Reserves. James spent most of these years representing Soldiers as an appellate attorney. He executed the full range of appellate litigation from research and writing appellate briefs to oral arguments. He managed the most complex cases in the military and represented over 200 Soldiers.
Prior to his time as an appellate defense attorney, James served as a prosecutor and managing prosecutor for Army Central Command. He was responsible for the administration of military justice for Army Central Command operations in Atlanta, GA, and throughout Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Egypt, and Qatar. While in this position, James participated in 300 successful criminal prosecutions, including high-profile felony cases. James also served as a torts claims attorney during his initial time as a judge advocate, where he investigated, adjudicated, and resolved claims filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, Mr. Rivera concurrently worked pro-bono at the Legal Aid Society, assisting the island’s indigent community in a wide array of civil and criminal cases. After graduation, Mr. Rivera has practiced various areas of law, including legislative work by clerking for the Hon. Luis Perez Ortiz from Puerto Rico’s House of Representatives, and representing the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in complex civil litigation at the Department of Justice (PR DOJ). Despite his varied practice, Mr. Rivera has spent the better half of his career successfully representing servicemen & servicewomen before the Department of Veterans’ Affairs at the Agency (DRO), Board (BVA) and Court (CAVC) level, achieving millions of dollars in unpaid disability compensation. Mr. Rivera is accredited nationwide by the VA, certified by Puerto Rico’s Highest Court as a skilled Mediator in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), has authored three publications discussing complex sociopolitical and legal subjects.
